Video: Barack Obama’s diaper joke at Trump, supporter’s hilarious response

Former US President Barack Obama mocked Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump when he joked about diapers, drawing laughter from the audience at his first solo campaign event for Vice President Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state.
In his speech in Pittsburgh, Obama highlighted one of Harris’s key policy proposals: a $6,000 child tax credit for parents of newborns. This initiative aims to provide financial relief to families struggling with the costs of raising young children, such as the expense of cribs, car seats and diapers. Obama then shared a personal anecdote about his own experience with the high cost of diapers when his first daughter, Malia, was born in 1998.
“I remember buying diapers after Malia was born and I was thinking, ‘That’s how much they cost?'” Obama told the crowd. He then made a humorous remark, saying, “I remember changing diapers. Do you think Donald Trump ever changed a diaper?”
The crowd erupted into laughter at Obama’s joke and one member of the audience, quipped, “His own!” Obama, amused by the response, smiled and pointed to the audience member. “I almost said that, but I decided I shouldn’t say it,” he chuckled.
Obama’s remarks were in an apparent response to Trump’s past interviews on his parenting style. Earlier, Trump, the former US President, had admitted to not being involved in changing his children’s diapers, stating it was “not my thing”. He had said he would provide financial support while his wife handled the childcare responsibilities.
Obama’s comments were also a part of a broader narrative he wove during the rally, contrasting Harris’s concrete policy proposals with what he portrayed as Trump’s lack of commitment to voters and his focus on personal ego and wealth.
The US is set to vote in a crucial presidential election on November 5. Polls have predicted a tight race with Harris having a slight lead over Trump by 49 per cent to 46 per cent.
